Dennis Kucinich, the former Democratic congressman from Ohio, is the Fox News Channelâs newest contributor.
Mr. Kucinich will make his first appearance as a contributor on the channelâs highest-rated program, âThe OâReilly Factor,â on Thursday night, the channel said in a news release.
Mr. Kucinich, a two-time presidential candidate known for his staunch antiwar views, lost his bid for re-election to the House of Representatives last year. The loss (to his primary opponent, Representative Marcy Kaptur) was not a surprise, because his Congressional district was largely eliminated when Ohio lawmakers redrew the stateâs electoral map in 2011.
Fox will give Mr. Kucinich a national platform for his views, as well as a paycheck.
âThrough 16 years in Congress and two presidential campaigns, Fox News has always provided me with an opportunity o share my perspective with its enormous viewership,â he said in a statement. âI look forward to a continuation of our relationship, this time as a Fox News contributor.â
The Fox News chairman and chief executive, Roger Ailes, praised Mr. Kucinich as a âvaluable voice in our countryâs debate.â
Mr. Kucinich will be one of the highest-profile liberal contributors on a channel that is a favorite of conservatives. Other liberal contributors include former Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana; Bob Beckel, who managed Walter Mondaleâs 1984 presidential campaign; and the community organizer Sally Kohn.
