Peter Thiel to Write Book on Building Companies

Peter A. Thiel, a co-founder of PayPal, has struck a deal to write a book about how to build companies of the future, his publisher said on Tuesday.

The book, “Zero to One,” will be published in March 2014 by Crown Business, an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group at Random House. Mr. Thiel, a billionaire and Stanford graduate who started a fellowship whose participants take two years away from college, was inspired to write the book by a computer science course he taught at Stanford.

“I’m writing this book because we need to think about the future for more than just 140 characters or 15 minutes at a time if we want to make real long-term progress,” Mr. Thiel said in a statement. “'Zero to One’ is about learning from Silicon Valley how to solve hard problems and build great things that have never existed before.”
