Rainn Wilson of âThe Officeâ Will Write Book
Rainn Wilson, the actor who played the maniacal but lovable underling Dwight Schrute on NBCâs âThe Office,â has struck a deal to write a book about his life, his publisher said on Wednesday. Dutton, an imprint of Penguin Random House, acquired the book, which is still untitled and scheduled for publication in fall 2014. âDespite what my publisher might say, I wouldnât call my book a memoir,â Mr. Wilson said in a statement. âIf I were in my eighties, had cured a disease and survived a war, I would be entitled to write a memoir. No. The guy who is best known for playing a paper salesman with a bad haircut, tweeting fart jokes and starting a quirky spirituality website does not merit a âmemoir.'â
Mr. Wilson is the founder of SoulPancake, a philosophy Web site. Two other veterans of âThe Office,â B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling, have forged literary careers of their own.
